I understand that my comments that
the attitudes of Buddhist "converts"
to representations of the Buddha
differs significantly to attitudes of
Buddhists from traditional Buddhist
Countries generated complaints
(presumably from western converts).
I made a very valid point.
My wife is Thai and Buddhist -
She takes great exception to images of the Buddah
used in non religious / non spiritual ways.
Clearly Western "converts"
do NOT have the same values and /
or sensitivity to this and are
NOT representative of the majority of Buddhists
i.e. People from Traditional Buddhist countries...
THailand, Vietnam, Burma, etc.
I was making a valid point -
The representation of the Buddha in this way
(as a soft fruit for commercial sale)
IS offensive to millions of traditional Buddhists -
I got pilloried for that...
why not ask a Bikkhu (Buddhist monk),
or ask some Thai's, Vietnamese, what they think ?)...
Or as usual is it just Western liberal opinion that is valid ?
